what's the forecast for summer?
It's always hard viewing summer collections when it seems so far away and really, winter has just started. The thought of slipping into a summer dress right now sends shivers down my spine! But what a few of my favourite designers have on the cards for summer is very exciting indeed...here is a snapshot of what to expect come summer...
Ingrid Starnes - newcomer to the scene and ex-Kate Sylvester design room designer, Ingrid's designs are stunning, beautifully constructed and show huge amounts of expertise and maturity. What has she got in store for us for summer? Pretty silk tea dresses in grey and apricot, shirtdresses and camisoles, all with a 40's vibe to it, as well as a gorgeous selection of undergarments. I loved the sweet appliqués on dresses. Kathryn Wilson has a selection of two-toned loafers in pastel shades and wedges in pastel suede. Fabric on High Street will be getting a selection of playful separates, romper suits, rolled-up Khaki's and plimsolls. Australian designer Bettina Liano offered very gothic lace dresses, shorts, blouses and jackets. I loved the Bow Front Crop Tee and the Swiss Cardi in navy blue knit with puff shoulder and metal buttons. Twentysevenames are making a name for themselves with their gorgeously-chunky knitwear - the first thing I spotted was a lavender cardigan that I can't stop thinking about! Also spotted alongside this were perfect black dresses, linen pieces, a super-cute navy silk flippy mini and blazer with cream spot and crushed velvet.
Juliette Hogan - another favourite of mine. Lots of vintage-inspired sun dresses and shirtwaisters, cream sequined tee shirts and singlets, knife pleating and bows, 50's prints and vintage-inspired underwear. Sherie Muijs had a nautical feel happening, with linen, black and white, camel and her signature shirting. Beth Ellery showed some stunning silk dresses and a waffle cotton was used in tee shirts. Glassons have the nautical vibe happening as well with a really cute sailor-inspired cropped navy jacket, a polka dot high-waisted skirt, lots of ditsy floral dresses, skinny jeans and a couple of really cool looking olive green anoraks. Last but least, the label that goes from strength to strength every season - Salasai. Her collection, Fluorescent Adolescent was a riot of stripes, polka dots, tartan, tie dye and lots of white and black- in Kirsha's signature off the wall cutting - this girl is one to watch.
